OVERVIEW

The foundation of safe, effective skin care.

A Specialist Skin Consultation is a GP-led appointment with a doctor who has a specialist interest in skin health.

Where clinically indicated, we may also arrange diagnostic investigations, such as fungal testing or blood monitoring for patients requiring certain treatments.

This consultation forms the foundation of safe, effective skin care, ensuring that any treatment or procedure offered is clinically appropriate. Where concerns fall outside our scope, we ensure you are guided clearly and promptly towards the most appropriate care.

Clinical Boundaries

Clinical Boundaries & Specialist Care

As part of our commitment to safe, ethical, and appropriate practice, we work within clearly defined clinical boundaries. This ensures every patient receives the right level of care, in the right setting.

High-risk or urgent concerns

We do not assess or manage lesions that may be suspicious for skin cancer. This includes any lesion that is bleeding, crusting, failing to heal, or new or changing in appearance. These concerns should be treated as urgent and assessed via your NHS GP through a red flag referral pathway. We do not provide mole mapping.

Lesions outside our scope

We do not treat benign growths, lumps, or bumps located on the face or neck. We also do not provide surgical management of deeper lumps, such as cysts or lipomas.

Specialist-led treatments and severe conditions

Certain treatments and conditions require hospital-based dermatology care. We do not prescribe Isotretinoin (Roaccutane). Patients who may require this treatment should be referred via their GP to a Consultant Dermatologist. Similarly, patients with severe skin conditions requiring specialist therapies — such as biologics or systemic immunosuppressants — should be managed under secondary care.

Frequently Asked Questions

No referral is needed. You can book a Specialist Skin Consultation directly with our clinic. If onward referral is required following assessment, we will guide you clearly and appropriately.

Our clinic is led by GPs with a specialist interest in dermatology. We are experienced in assessing and managing common to moderate skin conditions, and in recognising when specialist dermatology input is needed. Where appropriate, we will advise on referral to secondary care.

We assess and manage a wide range of common to moderate skin concerns, including acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, fungal infections, scalp conditions, mild hair loss, warts, and stable benign lesions on the body.

We do not assess or manage suspected skin cancers, including lesions that are bleeding, crusting, not healing, or new/changing moles—these require urgent NHS GP referral.

We also do not treat benign lesions on the face or neck, remove deep lumps such as cysts or lipomas, or manage severe skin conditions requiring hospital-based treatments.

We can assess certain skin lesions as part of a consultation. However, we do not provide mole mapping or manage suspicious or changing moles. If there are any concerning features, you will be advised to seek urgent assessment via your NHS GP.

Yes—where clinically appropriate, we offer treatment for stable, benign lesions on the body, such as skin tags or certain keratoses. All lesions are carefully assessed first to ensure they are suitable for in-clinic management.

No. Isotretinoin is a specialist medication that requires hospital dermatology supervision. If this treatment is appropriate, we will guide you on how to access referral via your GP.

Absolutely. Our services are designed to complement NHS care. Many patients choose a private consultation for timely assessment while continuing their NHS care alongside this.

At present, we do not work directly with health insurance providers. Our services are delivered by GPs with a specialist interest in dermatology, and we are therefore registered under GP services rather than the dermatology specialist register typically required by insurers.
